Small Business Support

Key objectives

The Small Business Support-Working Group’s key objectives are to support small businesses to realize their potential, innovate, keep updated, and enter a new export market, and become more resilient to ensure business growth.

These objectives will be met by being constantly updated on relevant laws and policy actions to assist in accessing business finance and grants, tax and cost relief measures, and specific funding support based on enterprise, industry, gender or location.

AusMonBC will facilitate, and assist small businesses with practical resources, tools, information, and learning opportunities through needs-based, or personalized support.

The Working Group will work together with government organisations and industry associations to help Small Businesses achieve their goals and succeed in a competitive market.

Leadership of the WG

Chair: Battuya Jalbasuren

The WG chair will work closely with the AusMonBC’s Chair and the Executive Committee to ensure WG programs will be effectively coordinated and integrated into the AusMonBC’s work program.

The WG Chair is specifically responsible for:
  1. Identifying key areas where AusMonBC’s support system is required.
  2. Identifying effective ways of communication, and information and knowledge transfer. 
  3. Providing recommendations to the Board of Directors for “advocacy action” and strategic marketing. 
  4. Supporting small business owners to access expert advice in the essential areas of tax compliance and tax efficiency, reduction of finance, administrative and audit costs, understanding commercial contracts and property laws, and effectively managing business disputes, and insurances. 
  5. Promoting best industry practices, digitalization, and innovation.
  6. Developing an annual “work program” and delivering quarterly reports. 
  7. Growing membership and improving WG expertise and credibility.

Agribusiness

Key objectives

Australia is one of the most innovative agricultural nations in the world. Today, agriculture remains the biggest contributor to Australia’s economy employing more than 370,000 people, including 135,000 farmers. 

Australian farmers and entrepreneurs have developed innovations including drought-resistant crops, robust irrigation systems and technologies designed to monitor and manage individual plants and animals. 

Agriculture is deeply embedded in Mongolia’s traditions and everyday life. The agricultural sector in particular traditional livestock herding – still accounts for an important part of the Mongolian economy. Mongolia encourages policies directed to the development of professional farm operations.  

Agribusiness Working Group’s key objectives are to provide a networking platform for our members to share information, disseminate best practices and innovations and identify import, export and investment opportunities.

Leadership of the WG

Chair: Oyuna Bordukh

The WG chair will work closely with the AusMonBC Management Team to ensure WG programs will be effectively coordinated and integrated into the AusMonBC work program.

The WG Chair is specifically responsible for:
  1. Conducting a study tour for Mongolian farmers in order to share Australian experiences related to the establishment of agriculture and livestock value chain
  2. Identifying advanced agricultural technologies and systems in Australia, regarding agriculture and livestock manufacturing/processing, distribution/sales, and supporting exports to Mongolia
  3. Conducting research on the export and import policy of agriculture and livestock products in Australia and Mongolia
  4. Supporting young Mongolians who have a passion for plants and animals to study farm management courses in Australia by providing scholarship and offering study exchange opportunities
  5. Promoting technological advancement and innovative new products and initiatives

International Education

Key objectives

The International Education Working Group’s  key objectives are to support effective cooperation between Australian and Mongolian education providers and education industries.

This means that we will, regularly, assist young  Mongolians and Australians, in their overseas educational pursuits, in view of their genuine aspirations to live and think globally, learn English and Mongolian languages at the highest possible level, and successfully compete in the current and emerging job markets.

The Working Group will actively support an improvement in teaching and  training standards, impacts, and those exploring new and innovative ideas in the education industry. To this effect, the Working Group will advise and guide members on partnership opportunities and collaborative projects between higher education and technical education  providers, and schools and colleges, through local knowledge, strong networks, and high-quality information.

The Working Group will, also, collaborate with the Australian education sector to increase youth exchange opportunities for genuine life and cultural exposures for the young people in Australia and Mongolia.

The WG chair will work closely with the AusMonBC Chair and the Executive Committee to ensure WG  programs will be effectively coordinated and integrated into the AusMonBC work program.

The WG Chair is specifically responsible for:
  1. Identifying key areas for investor confidence, and attractiveness of Mongolia to investors. 2. Facilitating skills and knowledge transfer, joint ventures, and business partnerships  3. Providing recommendations to Board of Directors for “advocacy action”. 
  2. Supporting initiatives for improved laws, policies, and good practices  
  3. Promoting innovation, research and development activities  
  4. Developing an annual “work program” and delivering monthly/quarterly reports.  7. Growing sector membership and WG credibility.

Tourism and Trade Expo

Key objectives

The Tourism and Trade Expo Working Group’s key objectives are to assist you getting informed, achieve business growth and differentiation, and access marketing and partnering opportunities through business travel, and participating in trade fairs and expos.

The Working group will provide planning for the travel, collaborate with industry associations, and organize unforgettable travel and business experiences through our business support programs and trade exhibitions.

You will be able to visit the most picturesque lands, learn about people and lifestyles, and appreciate histories, traditions, and magnificent cultural  heritage in Australia and Mongolia. 

Our members will benefit the most exclusive travel experiences by being provided with personalized and reliable support.

  2. Facilitating business to business meetings, and business partnerships 
  3. Providing recommendations to the Board of Directors for “advocacy and support actions”. 
  4. Supporting initiatives for quality information and research on actions and policies directed to trade promotions and economic cooperation.  
  5. Provide an effective planning, organization, and collaboration in business travel arrangements and trade fairs.
  6. Actively support connections and cooperation between people, social groups, and businesses for appreciation and awareness of cultures of Australia and Mongolia.
  7. Advise and report to the Board of Directors on projects and activities that require support and assistance. 

Mining and Resources

Key objectives

The Mining and Resources Working Group’s (WG) key objectives are to improve the business  environment for AusMonBC member companies.

This means AusMonBC will advocate, facilitate, and assist with  strengthening legal, administrative, economic and political support for successful implementation of  Mineral Exploration and Mining projects, and related Services Industry.

As a result, Mongolia, as a host country, would be able to benefit through increased GDP and improved industry skills, wages and  employment.

Business and Communities

Key objectives

Business and Communities Working Group will support our members in bringing greater value to the communities, creating stronger communities, and generating a positive impact.

Customers, investors, and communities increasingly expect responsible behaviour from business enterprises. Smarter companies take actions to improve their community investment strategies, and voluntarily adopt sustainable practices.

To improve your social performance, along with your financial performance, your business may donate your time and money to causes that are meaningful for your business, employees and community. Your operational initiatives can include energy efficiency, reducing waste, water use and emissions.

A responsible business is rewarded with enhanced community support, improved employee productivity, talent acquisition and retention, lower costs, positive branding and customer loyalty.

The WG chair will work closely with the AusMonBC Chair and the Executive Committee to ensure WG programs will be effectively coordinated and integrated into the AusMonBC work program.

The WG Chair is specifically responsible for:
  1. Engaging in effective communications with businesses to help them improve their community relationships through supporting community causes and initiatives; 
  2. Advising and guiding businesses in implementing purposeful and impactful community programs;  
  3. Engaging with businesses of all scales to support their appreciation of community needs, goals and aspirations for greater social impact, reputation and trust-building; 
  4. Providing an actionable plan for targeted projects which promote community confidence, trust, and involvement in collaborative business for community engagements, processes, and activities.  
  5. Leading a successful implementation of community programs and reporting to the Board of Directors of the outcomes, impacts, lessons learnt, and changes/adjustments.   

Exports and Imports

Key objectives

Exports and Imports between Australia and Mongolia would require greater attention and need to be strongly promoted.

Export and Import activities require strong familiarity with country’s laws and regulations, special trade zones, inter-operable regulations, transportation and logistics, and consistent and unified branding of national products and services.

In addition, smart visa and migration policies are essential.

Export and Import activities are supported by reduced costs in time and money, and the least burdensome export and import compliance.

Therefore, tariffs, logistic system, cross-border trade and customs regulations should be directed to eliminating restrictive practices and increase efficiencies.

Exports and Imports Working Group will assist our members in understanding ways to reduce administrative and cost burdens to export or import goods and services, and benefit from a wide range of tariff concessions and exemptions.

We will, equally and strongly, advocate and assist with diverse Services Exports (including Management, High Tech, and Professional Services exports) aligned with the country’s talent attraction, trade and investment policies, and new and emerging commercial ambitions.

The WG chair will work closely with the AusMonBC Chair and the Executive Committee to ensure WG programs will be effectively coordinated and integrated into the AusMonBC work program.

The WG Chair is specifically responsible for:
  1. Assisting you export goods and services from or import into Mongolia and Australia; 
  2. Promoting your brand, products, and services at AusMonBC events, materials, and social media pages; 
  3. Guiding you on priority importation and export policies and action plans of Mongolia and Australia;
  4. Helping you understand and evaluate import duties, concessions, exemptions, and upcoming changes in laws and regulations; 
  5. Assisting you effectively communicate, and engage with Australian and Mongolian licensing, certification, compliance system, and regulatory bodies;.  
  6. Advising you on practical approaches to save time, and benefit from cost efficiencies and other benefits.

Policy and advocacy

Key objectives

The Policy and Advocacy Working Group’s key objectives are to support our members by creating awareness and opportunities to get involved in policy and advocacy activities.

We will advocate for consistent, and modernized business environment through engaging in effective dialogues with decision makers, and stakeholders, identifying key policy positions, and collectively voicing on best practices, laws and policies. 

These objectives will be met by deepening our relationships with key stakeholders, being constantly updated on relevant laws and policy initiatives, identifying issues and challenges at the earliest possible time, leading, and coordinating governments, interest groups, and media on our advocacy priorities.  

Our members will be provided with the latest and reliable information through our meetings and forums. The Working Group will be a trusted voice to be able to serve the best interests of our members.

  4. Supporting businesses to access expert advice and keep updated on the processes and outcomes. 
  5. Promoting best industry practices, modernization and innovation.
  6. Developing an annual “work program” and delivering quarterly reports. 
  7. Growing membership and improving WG expertise and credibility.
